- For
- Greater Cleveland residents, planners, and housing-policy readers
- Worth noticing
- A blind aerial-photo check of 300 lots across five cities agreed with the screen 95% of the time.
Field notes
The parcel-level test asks whether a 20-foot footprint fits behind a house after accounting for lot lines, the house, and any garage, or whether a garage could be converted. Its totals keep physical room, current legal eligibility, and unverified zoning rules separate; 55,784 lots sit in that unverified category. A hand-reviewed sample of 300 lots in five cities was checked against aerial photos, with the project reporting 95% agreement. The site labels outputs screening estimates, not permit determinations or a housing forecast.
