Furta NGFW: the firewall that shows its work
An open-source firewall project for Debian and Ubuntu that presents packet-by-packet decisions and a rollback process for risky configuration changes.
- For
- Debian and Ubuntu edge-firewall administrators
- Worth noticing
- Connectivity-affecting changes wait 120 seconds for confirmation; if unconfirmed, the site says the last good configuration is restored.
Field notes
The packet-path demo offers six scenarios, including a guest phone reaching toward an office NAS and an exploit inside otherwise allowed traffic; each is shown against named processing stages. The configuration workflow validates changes, applies interfaces, routes, firewall rules and services together, then waits 120 seconds for confirmation when connectivity may be affected. The page says missed confirmation, failed health checks, agent restarts or reboot restore the last good configuration. It lists an Apache-2.0 license, but the source link says GitHub is coming soon.
