Glovebox: automatic TeslaCam backups to your own storage
Glovebox uses a Raspberry Pi or compatible board to back up TeslaCam and Sentry Mode clips to a NAS or another configured destination.
- For
- Tesla owners with a home NAS or server
- Worth noticing
- Backups start when home storage is reachable over Wi-Fi, prioritize Sentry events, and resume interrupted copies.
Field notes
The board occupies the car’s USB dashcam role, then transfers new recordings when home storage comes into reach. The page lists SMB, NFS, rsync, and rclone destinations, plus browser-based viewing on the home network; it says encrypted clips are downloaded for Tesla’s viewer. Hardware support is conditional: USB device capability and a supported Linux system are required, and the site cautions that compatible hardware is not necessarily a tested car-and-board combination.
