Ruze takes a different route to group chat
Ruze presents a free chat app for servers, channels, direct messages, voice, and screen sharing, with conversations described as connecting devices directly rather than passing through a company server.
- For
- Groups seeking account-free voice and text chat
- Worth noticing
- Identity is a device-generated keypair; the page says a 24-word phrase restores it on another machine.
Field notes
The page says identity is generated as a keypair on the user's device, with a 24-word recovery phrase and a backup file for restoring an account; adding a device uses a code. It lists version 0.0.62 for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iPhone, but distribution is not equally frictionless: the iPhone build is sideloaded, and the Mac build is not notarized. These are homepage descriptions, not an independent security review.
